My Story

Unlike most artists, I didn’t grow up with a pencil in my hand. I have always been interested in drawing and painting, but it was something that always felt out of reach for me. I grew up in Italy, on Lake Como. I moved to California right out of high school to study acting/filmmaking (somehow, THAT didn’t feel out of reach), and after a few years spent working in the film industry both behind and in front of the camera, I landed on a career as a photographer, which had been my other big passion for years up to that point.

Why I Paint

Years later, at the ripe old age of 27, I began to feel the need for a new creative outlet. I had always wanted to learn how to paint and convinced myself that, if I learned how to be a photographer, I could learn how to be a painter, too. The idea of being able to create images out of thin air was so appealing, because as a photographer I was limited by where I could physically be and what I could actually see in front of me, but as a painter, the only limit was my imagination. I fell in love with the process and, a few years later.. well, here we are.

Regardless of what I’m painting at any given time, I try to create work that gives people the feeling of a memory that they may or may not have experienced.
